Our Latest Publication is Here!

We are thrilled to share our latest research, published in the Journal JMIR Serious Games. This study focuses on evaluating real-time feedback visualizations for our homeSETT system. The goal was to work with diverse groups – patients, physiotherapists, and physicians – to develop optimal visual representations for digital-supported exercise therapy.

What Makes This Study Special?

Participants tested various feedback visualizations for specific exercises, providing valuable insights into what they liked about the designs and how these could be improved further.

Key Findings of the Analysis:

  • User-Friendliness: The visualizations were described as clear, simple, and self-explanatory, although a short adjustment period was required.
  • Motivation Through Feedback: Real-time visualizations, combined with playful elements, were found to be motivating by the participants.
  • Areas for Improvement: Some participants noted the absence of additional information, such as repetition counters or detailed instructions. The color scheme was also highlighted as an area for enhancement.
  • Challenges: Linking movements to the visual feedback was initially not intuitive. There is also room to improve the system’s calibration and sensitivity.

Why Open Access?

Sustainability and access to knowledge are priorities for us! That’s why this study has been published as Open Access and can be read in full here. We are proud of this milestone and look forward to incorporating these findings into the next phase of homeSETT system development.

Best,
SETT-Team
